Checks and Money Orders

If you pay by check or money order, we will hold your in stock items for 10 days from the date you place your order pending receipt of your check. We will notify you promptly via e-mail if any item you ordered is on backorder and not expected to ship within a reasonable period of time. Payment must be made in US dollars. Your order will ship once your check clears our bank.

Returns

Items may be returned within 30 days of purchase with the exception of incense. All items must be returned unused. For your protection, we suggest you mail your return to us insured. Your refund will be issued to the PayPal account used to pay for the purchase or by check. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.

When items that were shipped for free are returned, we will deduct from the refund amount shipping and handling based on the dollar value of your return as stated on our Rate Table. If the dollar value of your return (before applicable tax) totals $100 or more, we will deduct $8.95 from your refund to defray the shipping and handling costs we incurred when sending the item or items to you.

Exchanges

An item may be exchanged for the same item in, for example, a different color within 30 days of purchase, with the exception of incense. The item must be returned to us unused. For your protection, we suggest you mail your exchange to us insured. We will charge shipping and handling to send the new item to you, and will take payment via the method used to pay for the original purchase. All other returns for another item will be deemed a return and purchase. Thus, shipping & handling will be deducted from the amount refunded to you on the return and shipping and handling will be added to the total amount due on the purchase as per our Shipping and Returns policies. We cannot refund your cost in sending the item to us.

When an item that was originally shipped to you for free (an item over $100) is returned to us for exchange, we will charge $8.95 to ship the new item to you, and we will take payment via the method used to pay for the order. We can only Free Ship once per order.

HOW TO USE INCENSE

As incense use involves an open flame there are some very important guidelines to follow which will not only ensure the safety of you, your loved ones and your home, but will also garner the best result from the burning process.

There are a few easy rules of thumb to follow. To start off with, the best way to use incense is to let it smoulder, not burn – this ensures you get the fragrance of the incense (instead of a burning, smoky smell), and will make the product last a lot longer. To achieve a smoulder, ignite the incense with a match or lighter and allow it to burn for ten to fifteen seconds. Extinguish by blowing or fanning after the burn period. This allows the incense to heat and glow red-hot, and it should then smoulder until spent.

Always use a heat-proof container, and make sure you keep loose paper, curtains, or any other flammable materials well away from the incense. Never leave pets or children unattended with burning incense. Make sure you have extinguished and allowed the incense to cool properly after use before you dispose of the ashes and remnants – charcoal can hold heat and flame for a long time.

Hand Made Art Glass Incense Burners, made by a young people's school in Canada.
The art glass incense burners are made by placing colored glass into a kiln and heating it past 1200 degrees over a mold that makes it bend to the elegant curved shape. Next, a hole is drilled with a diamond bit, and decoration is added. Measures 10 inches long and is designed to fit all wooden incense sticks. Because these are handmade their look will not be the exact one you see pictured but will be as beautiful of course.

Where Ember Heart is Made
I have sewn some lovely couture fashions here, now I make my own
Aromatic Couture for Ember Heart at this same art table (although sometimes you can't see it).

My neighborhood, and my corner here in the East Village, is the one that inspired and was featured in the Broadway musical and film "Rent", it inspires me too. People here are friendly and artistic, as real as any village can be tucked inside a big beautiful city.
